About Belford Pottery
Scott and Amy Belford have been attending art shows since the summer of 2004 selling their pottery in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago Illinois. After being introduced to the joy of working with clay (not to mention being introduced to each other) at the College of Lake County in Illinois they decided to build a studio and a life together. Amy jokes that she couldn't make a large serving bowl so she just decided to marry someone from the class who could.
From the moment Scott's hands transformed a lump of clay into the design that he had in his head, it was as if he had found his calling and there was no turning back. In the years since that first experience, Scott has only begun to discover the twists and turns in the arena of functional pottery. Playing glazes off of shapes and textures to see how they will react or tweaking a glaze recipe so it does what is hoped it would (and then being able to recreate the effect) is a great challenge. Rewards are revealed every time the kiln is opened.
Our pottery has been inspired by the refined functional clay artists of yesterday and today. To be a part of this is something that Scott and Amy don't take for granted.
They are honored that you have taken time to enjoy their work and hope you find a place in your life for a little Belford Pottery.
Thank you.
